Birds and Steps

Yep, that's all I've seen for the past few days. On Monday & Tuesday we were staying in Katoomba in the Blue Mountains. Pretty place. Although the Giant Staircase was closed we still managed two decent walks, one of which took us down to the valley floor. Before catching our breaths at the bottom we took the train back up not realising it was an adrenaline ride in itself as we rocketed, near vertical, back up the cliff (Hilary only agreed to go down all the steps if I promised not to make her walk back up them). And today, we climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Step, steps and more steps - we're getting good at steps.
My mum didn't seem overly impressed with Geoff, our Sydney seagull, so I thought I'd throw in some picks of the more impressive birds we saw in Katoomba. Sulphur Crested Cockatoos and a Crimson Rosella added to the whole "your not in Kansas anymore" experience. A Malleefowl just objected to our presence on his path.Oh, and after a trial run last night the tent doesn't appear to have any holes in it. yet :)

The Property Ladder
Yesterday we bought a tent. Now I know that's not really property but it is going to be our home for most of the next 3 months. It's also the closest we're going to get to owning our own home for a little while, so as far as I'm concerned Jamie and I have moved up in the world, we're Home Owners. We got a good deal on it - Salewa Bergen II, 2 person, 3 season, for $349 (pictured). It was actually supposed to be $449. There was a Sale tag still on it, the sale was obviously over as nothing else in the shop had a sale tag on it. They had just forgotten to take it off, cos it could've easily been missed - but you know me, I can sniff out a bargain at 300 paces :-) So we cheekily asked the guy if he'd give it to us for the Sale price and he went for it.
The cool thing about now being property owner's is that Jamie's excuse for not making on honest woman out of me is no longer valid - he wanted to be able to provide me with a home.... I imgaine, despite our new found Home Owner status, the big question is as far away as ever. I'll keep you posted though ;-)
